As part of a much-publicised goodwill tour, smiling Princess Ann sojourns in Rome, the Eternal City. But, feeling worn out from trying to live up to expectations, mildly sedated Ann summons up the courage to do the unthinkable: sneak out of her golden cage on a quiet starry night to experience life for the first time in her well-orchestrated life. And before long, as wide-eyed Ann meanders through the iconic cobblestone streets of the bustling city that never sleeps, a chance encounter with gallant American reporter Joe Bradley paves the way for a merry escapade just like in the movies.
